Achievements

Revealed the full-depth 3D structure, generation and dissipation mechanisms of oceanic mesoscale eddies in the northern South China Sea

Discovered a new type of submesoscale coherent vortices in the northwestern Pacific and evaluated their contribution to the water subduction. 

Revealed the latitudinal distribution and driving mechanisms of the turbulent mixing in the tropical-extratropical Pacific upper ocean.
