On the basis of open collaborative innovation platform resources of the Institute for Advanced Ocean Study, the Center of Research and Development of Marine Observation Technology and Equipment under construction takes building “transparent ocean” deep sea strategic scientific cutting-edge observation system and technological system as the core and makes efforts to a series of high-end marine observation equipment with proprietary intellectual property rights and the improvement of deep sea observation ability.

The R&D center is equipped with a digital processing center (CNC), precision machine tools, electronic assembly rooms, a final assembly room, an instrument calibration room, a deep-water basin and the like, has the ability of design, fabrication, assembly and debugging, and can research,develop, process and manufacture intelligent subsurface buoys, underwater gliders, deep-sea Argo and underwater observation systems and carry out the simulation and operation test.
