On April 11th, based on the principle of “safety first, prevention crucial”, Institute for Advanced Ocean Study organized a fire safety knowledge training in the International Auditorium of the Ocean Science and Technology Building. This training aims to enhance the fire safety awareness of teachers and students, learn and master the basic methods of emergency evacuation and use of fire-fighting equipment after fire, improve emergency response and self-rescue ability in emergency.

Song Xichao, a fire propaganda expert, then gave a fire safety lecture on the theme of “Public Participation, Fire Prevention”, focusing on fire safety knowledge such as emergency evacuation and self-rescue. Through the form of illustrations and texts, the presenter explained the importance and seriousness of the fire safety work in a simple language so that the teachers and students deeply realized the importance of hidden dangers is more dangerous than open fires, prevention is better than disaster relief. Focusing on the knowledge of fire prevention and self-rescue, he introduced the common knowledge of fire prevention in daily use of fire and electricity and the methods of self-rescue and escape when fires occur. Later, the presenter also showed the necessary fire-fighting equipment in company, home and vehicle, including fire extinguishers, independent smoke detectors, smoke masks, etc., and showed how to use fire extinguishers to put out the initial fire.

More than 160 teachers and students from IAOS participated in the fire safety training. This activity have effectively increased the fire protection knowledge of the teachers and students of IAOS, and trained the teachers and students to learn, understand and use firefighting. The awareness of fire protection and self-defense and self-rescue ability of each teacher and student to prevent and deal with campus fire accidents has been enhanced.
